Atletico Madrid secured their fourth straight victory in La Liga on Sunday, beating Getafe 2-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. The win was Atletico's second in succession and came after they were held to a goalless draw by Sevilla earlier in the week.

The match began with both teams looking to take control of the game from the off, but it was Atletico who created the first real chance of the match when Antoine Griezmann found himself one-on-one with the Getafe goalkeeper, but he could only hit the post.

However, Getafe soon responded with a dangerous free-kick that was headed towards goal by Sergio Canales, but his header was well saved by Atletico's goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

The deadlock was finally broken just before half-time when Atletico substitute Ramón Ibarra scored his first goal for the club, putting them ahead with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Getafe fought back immediately though, as they equalized through a goal from Yeray López, but Atletico regained the lead thanks to another Ibarra effort, this time from close range.

Despite being down to ten men following the sending-off of Diego Godín late on, Atletico managed to hold on for the win, securing their fourth consecutive league victory.

It was a hard-fought victory for Atletico, who had to work hard to secure all three points against a Getafe side that has struggled recently. However, with their current form, there is every reason to believe that Atletico can continue their winning streak in the coming weeks.
